Iga Swiatek is gearing up for her US Open Quarterfinal match against World No. 8 Jessica Pegula. The Polish tennis star battled past Jule Niemeier in the round of 16, 2-6, 6-4, 6-0, to secure a place in the quarterfinal of the US Open. Meanwhile, Pegula defeated two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova in the fourth round to reach the quarterfinal.
Iga Swiatek is showing great form this season and is here to prove that she’s not just a clay specialist. The World No. 1 recently made headlines after she did a jumping jack action in her third-round clash against Lauren Davis which was not received nicely by fans. But now the polish star is eyeing another grand slam final this year after winning the 2022 French Open.

In a press conference, Swiatek was recently asked about Pegula‘s success against her. Iga Swiatek hilariously answered, “I won against Jessie in Miami and somewhere else I think, What do you mean successful?” After Swiatek’s answer, the journalist corrected himself and asked what made Pegula a tough opponent for her.
Iga Swiatek currently leads the head-to-head against Jessica Pegula with a streak of 2-1. Swiatek defeated the American star in the semifinal at the Miami Open this year in straight sets followed by a win at the Roland Garros quarterfinal. The upcoming match between them will be an interesting one considering both the players are displaying exceptional tennis.
Swiatek has won the Miami Open, Italian Open, Stuttgart Open and Qatar Open this year making this one of her best seasons along with a grand slam title in her bag (French Open). Swiatek is looking to go far this year at the US Open. Jessica Pegula on the other hand has a 35-16 win-loss record this season with a French Open doubles runner-up position in the bag.
