WATCH: Nick Kyrgios receives a marriage proposal from a MALE fan, the Australian stops his serve to give his answer
Nick Kyrgios gets proposed
Nick Kyrgios, the current World No. 22 recently played an exhibition match in Mexico. The Australian No. 1 was involved in a one-off match against British No. 1 Cameron Norrie at the Tennis Showdown in the Mexico City. Despite Norrie putting up a good fight, it was Kyrgios who won the match taking a 6-4, 6-4 win.
The event was supposed to be played originally in September 2021 but had to be postponed twice. Initially, Dominic Thiem and Andrey Rublev were going to clash but Thiem’s injury last year ruled him out. The pair was then replaced by Daniil Medvedev and Gael Monfils but the Ukrainian War resulted in another delay. Eventually, Kyrgios and Norrie completed the event with a good show at 2200 meters above sea level.
During the match, a unique incident took place. While players getting marriage proposals is not strange in tennis, a male fan asking a male player was indeed a surprise. About to serve during the match, a male spectator proposed to Kyrgios saying, “Nick would you marry me?”.
The video was filmed by reportedly the fan’s friend and later shared on social media. Kyrgios stopped between his service and while he did not give any reply, he just shrugged his shoulders while the audience broke into giggles following the proposal.
