The Adelaide International tournament is going on in Australia in full swing. The event is graced by the presence of Serbian star Novak Djokovic who made his return to Australia after a gap of almost two years. The Serbian star has partnered with Canadian player Vasek Pospisil for the event. The duo played their first match against the pairing of Tomislav Brkic and Gonzalo Escobar. 

During the match, Djokovic’s team earned an unexpected ‘foul shot’ point that led to a lot of speculations. In an unexpected turn of events, the opponent Brkic hit a winner to conclude the rally but ended up receiving a foul call from the chair umpire. The short incident was shared on Instagram by Channel 9’s Wide World of Sports.

In the video shared on Instagram, Djokovic’s opponents were arguing with the chair umpire about the call. In the end, Umpire stayed with his decision as the replay of the shot was not available.

Though Djokovic and Pospisil won the point, eventually they lost the match to Brkic and Escobar by 4-6, 6-3 [10-5].

Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic is enjoying his time Down Under. The 35-year-old is currently participating in the Adelaide International tournament where he received overwhelming support from the fans. In the season’s opener, Djokovic played against Bosnian-Ecuadorian pair alongside Canada’s Vasek Pospisil.

Djokovic and Co. lost to the unseeded pair eventually but the Serb stayed back to spend some time with the fans. Djokovic signed autographs and clicked some pictures with the fans as they cheered for him. This immense reception brings back a lot of great memories for Djokovic.

After the Adelaide International tournament, Djokovic will head into the season’s first Grand Slam, Australian Open. The widespread backing for the 21-time major champion in Australia will work to the Serb’s advantage. Extending his record at Melbourne Park and leveling with his long-time rival Rafael Nadal on total Grand Slams tally will be Djokovic’s prime target as the season progresses.
