World No. 3 Novak Djokovic is into the quarter-finals of the 2022 Wimbledon Championships as he looks to win his 4th consecutive Wimbledon title. Djokovic defeated the spirited Tim Van Rijthoven in the 4th round to stay on track for his 21st major of his career and 7th at the Championships.
While Novak is always the talk of the town, this year he is not the only Djokovic who is being discussed during this year’s Grand Slam. Djokovic’s son Stefan has also become a talking point for his regular visit to Novak’s box in Center Court and having training sessions with him as well. A viral photo showing a striking similarity between Stefan and Novak’s forehand made the young Djokovic more popular.
“It’s always been his desire to play here”: Novak Djokovic on son Stefan
In the now-viral video, Djokovic can be seen on the floor when Stefan ran to him from behind and climbed on his back. Novak rose from his position and held Stefan to ensure he does not slip and then stood up to take his son on a piggyback ride with the onlookers enjoying the beautiful bonding between the father and son. Novak’s coach Goran Ivanisevic could also be seen enjoying the time on court watching Novak and Stefan.
“I try to take as much time as possible to play with him, now he’s completely immersed in tennis, he always watches how I play, analyzes matches, we talk a lot about these things. Saturday night, before going to bed, he asked me about racquet sizes, strings and tensions, the typical things that make him curious. Right now he’s in love with tennis, it’s always been his desire to be here,” said Djokovic in the press conference after his 4th round win hinting that Stefan might follow his father’s footsteps and become a Pro.
