Carlos Alcaraz, the young boy from Spain cruised his way into the final four of the 2022 US Open after defeating Jannik Sinner in five sets in the second longest match of the US Open that went on for five hours and 15 minutes displaying some incredible level of tennis by both the players but it was Alcaraz’s day. The Spaniard made his place for the first time in the semi-finals of the US Open.

Alcaraz had a tough start to the North American swing where he had reached the quarter-finals of the Cincinnati Open but lost to the Brit Cameron Norrie. He had a disappointing exit at the Canadian Open in the first round but had some fair share of good performances since the start of the year. He had a great clay court season and had even managed to reach the quarter-finals of the French Open but was beaten in the quarter-finals by the German Alexander Zverev.

Alcaraz had already won four ATP titles this season- Rio Open, Miami Open, Barcelona Open, and the Madrid Open. He was looking for his fifth ATP title but Sinner had defeated him at the Croatia Open quashing his chance at winning his fifth ATP title of the year. Carlos was also beaten by the Italian in the Round of 16 at Wimbledon.

Carlos Alcaraz hits an unbelievable shot in the second set of the quarter-final match

There were quite a number of incredible moments during the whole course of the semi-final match to remember but the one during the second set was the best moment in the whole US Open which became the talk of the town.

During the second set, Alcaraz hit an amazing shot that could possibly be the best shot of the match and even can be called the best shot of the tournament. The 19-year-old returned Sinner’s serve and went running across the court to hit an unbelievable shot from behind his back which was totally out of the box to watch. Sinner tried to play a drop shot in response but Alcaraz was quick enough to race to the middle and hit a backhand and hence winning the much crucial point.

Carlos Alcaraz will be facing the American Frances Tiafoe in the semi-final clash at Flushing Meadows who has been having a great season since he defeated the 22-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal in the quarter-finals. It will be an interesting clash in the semi-finals as both Alcaraz and Tiafoe will be fighting for their place in the finals for the first time at the US Open.
