Nadal and Swiatek faced the pairing of teenage sensation Coco Gauff and tennis legend John McEnroe. Both teams played some incredible and eye-catching tennis to entertain the crowd. During one of the rallies, Swiatek entertained the crowd by hitting a tweener from the net while Nadal hit a tweener lob running backward. Nadal and Swiatek eventually won the match.

All the money that was raised during this event, will go directly to an international non-profit organization and will be used to aid the people of Ukraine who have suffered during the Russian invasion. It is estimated that the event helped generate more than $1 million for humanitarian assistance in Ukraine.

Nadal got injured in Wimbledon and came back to the tour last week at Cincinnati. To his dismay, he lost his opening match to Borna Coric in three sets and has basically no match practice ahead of the US Open. But Nadal looked fit and if given a good draw, he could slowly build momentum towards the business end of the tournament.

He is seeded second and is one of the tournament favorites. He is also a reigning champion in New York since he hasn’t played in the last two edition of the US Open.
