Rafael Nadal cruised past Dutch 26th seed Botic van de Zandschulp in the third round of the French Open on Friday, 6-3 6-2 6-4, to keep his hopes alive of facing world No. 1 Novak Djokovic in the quarter-finals. The ‘King of Clay’ boasts 13 Roland Garros titles among his 21 majors, the most among men, although he was denied a 14th last year when he lost in the semi-finals to eventual champion Novak Djokovic.
In any case, it was another outstanding performance from the King of Clay as he continues his quest for a 22nd Grand Slam singles trophy, having previously won at Melbourne Park earlier this year. Also, following his battle, a wonderful incident occurred that touched the hearts of everyone present.

Nonetheless, after Rafael Nadal secured his smooth passage to the fourth round of the French Open at Roland-Garros, there was an unexpected and happy event. Nadal was surprisingly met by a small boy on the court as he was putting his racquets away and gathering himself on his seat on Court Suzanne-Lenglen after clinching the match over the 26th seed. The Spaniard touched the kid’s head and spoke to him in a kind manner. It was a total fanboy moment for the youngster, and he will undoubtedly remember it for the rest of his life.
