Stefanos Tsitsipas is back in the headlines as he failed to hold his emotions during a match, eliciting a plethora of reactions online. During his first-round match against Dennis Novak at the 2022 Vienna Open, he abused his father, Apostolos Tsitsipas. This is not the first time the Greek lost his patience and turned aggressive during a match.

During the first set, the Greek lost his serve to the Austrian player, and this left Tsitsipas frustrated. The World No 6 player lost his nerve and yelled towards his box where his father, mother, and trainer were present. It was quite evident that he swore and cursed his father as he angrily marched toward his bench.

He even ordered his father, who is also the coach of the Greek player, to leave the arena at the earliest. Despite winning the match, he was furious during the exchange.

It is not the first time that Tsitsipas had landed in an altercation with his father midway through an ongoing match. During the ATP Cup in the year 2020, he angrily smashed his racket into his bench after losing a set. The 2021 French Open finalist’s racquet broke into pieces with the debris ending up hitting his father-cum-coach Apostolos. His father was then forced to leave the arena to get treatment for his bleeding arm at the earliest.

The Greek’s anger issues have been often evident in recent times. He lost his calm and went into an ugly spat with his opponent, Nick Kyrgios, during the third-round clash at Wimbledon. Post the match, he was even fined for the on-court behavior and not being able to handle pressure moments.

He is fresh from losing in two consecutive finals at the Astana Open and the Stockholm Open. He is next scheduled to play at the Paris Masters and will be looking to make his redemption for his 10th ATP title.
