‘Way to go my love’ read her post. Jelena Djokovic has stuck by Novak’s side through thick and thin. In contrast to the tragic 2022 deportation fiasco, this year brought happiness and prosperity to the Djokovic family. She’s not only his most enthusiastic fan but also the CEO of the Novak Djokovic Foundation.

Tennis royalty Novak Djokovic suffered heartbreak last year when he was deprived of the opportunity to defend his Melbourne crown. Subsequently, Djokovic’s supporters, popularly known as “Nole Fam,” flooded her post with comments praising the Serb. The champion made his trip to Australia this year in the absence of his wife and children. But Jelena’s post bore testament to her unconditional and undying support for her husband, who added another feather to his cap.

In the photo, Novak can be seen kissing the Norman Brookes trophy. Having won it for a record-extending 10th time, Djokovic equaled Nadal’s all-time tally. Both he and his archrival are at 22 Major apiece. Consequently, both of them will be looking to add to their already impressive trophy cabinet. By winning the Australian Open, Djokovic reclaimed the ATP world No. 1 spot.

Novak Djokovic climbs Melbourne summit 15 years after the first title

The Serb defeated Greek ace Stefanos Tsitsipas in straight sets (6-3, 7-6, 7-6) to win his 10th Australian Open. Marred by controversy last year, Djokovic returned to Melbourne looking for redemption. He was deported from the country in 2022 following his stand against the COVID-19 vaccination.

After steamrolling his opponents en route to the final, he locked horns against an in-form Tsitsipas. The Greek three-seed was looking to win his maiden Slam and subsequently become world number one. But he couldn’t pose any threat whatsoever to the 9-time champion on the other end.

Tsitsipas couldn’t take advantage of the one-set point that came his way in the second set. Despite taking the match to tie-breaks in both the second and third sets, he fell short in key moments. Djokovic is not a player you can afford to give multiple opportunities to. And he made Stefanos pay by taking a commanding 5-0 lead in the third set tie-break.

It was only a matter of time before Novak Djokovic reclaimed the Norman Brookes trophy. He converted his first match point after Tsitsipas’ shot flew over his head and landed long. As a result, Djokovic returned to the ATP pole spot.

One can’t help but marvel at the magnitude of Novak’s achievement. From defeating Frenchman Jo-Wilfred Tsonga to win his first Slam in 2008 to tying Nadal with 22 slams 15 years later.
