Nick Kyrgios, this year’s Wimbledon runner-up played his first major finals against Novak Djokovic where the Serb defeated the now 63rd-ranked Kyrgios by 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 7-6. The Aussie’s highest-ever career ranking was recorded at No.13 and he has won a total no. of 6 career titles. He is known for his good aces and bad mouth in the tennis world.
The former world No.13 is presently competing at the Citi Open in Washington DC where he has advanced to the second round after defeating the American, Marcus Giron in his first match on the hard court. Nick showed a dominant game over his opponent and won the match in straight two sets by 6-3, 6-2.

Just before a month ago Nick was in one of the best moments of his career when he reached his first major final which was quite phenomenal for the 27-year-old, Nick explain his journey of playing the Wimbledon finals as an achievement for any normal player (excluding big-3), insists that he could have performed better. The Australian also spoke about his learnings from the final, hoping he could win a grand slam soon with his team and himself being more motivated than ever before.
Recently, In Washington, during an interview, he said, “I feel like a Grand Slam final doesn’t come around so often for us normal players. Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic played a ton of Grand Slam finals, but that was like the golden opportunity I felt for me. Going up a set as well. There are so many things I would have done differently I think now that I have digested that match, but I’m doing all the right things to put myself in that position again. I think I’m doing that, and my whole team is helping me achieve that goal.
“I think we all know that it’s possible now. I don’t think we thought it was possible to contend for Grand Slams, but now it’s a genuine thing. I think all about motivation and we are on the same page. It’s taken me 27 years (laughs).”
Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic together are called Big-3 because of their accomplishments and hundreds of career titles between them. Together, they have won a total no. of 63 grand slams and 283 career titles overall which is by far a bigger number than any trio of the same generation.
