There were some shots fired from Olympic Gold-medalist Belinda Bencic’s side towards the WTA after her second-round win against Canadian Bianca Andreescu. The world No.13 was frustrated with WTA and talked about it post-match.
WTA decided to remove the ranking points from this year’s Wimbledon following their decision of not allowing Russian and Belarussian players to participate in Wimbledon this year. This decision although appreciated by some of the players is being heavily criticized by many of them.
Bencic is one of the players who was varied by the decision to remove points from this year’s Wimbledon. She believes that the decision made by the ATP and WTA was like a punishment that they clearly don’t deserve.
She believes that both the governing institutions fail to take the player’s opinions into consideration each and every time they make an important decision. The players need to blindly follow each and every guideline being set up by the WTA and don’t have any say in the decision making process

She said, “We have zero say. I can not understand that. There’s nothing we can do.” However, after expressing her anger toward WTA the swiss player calmed down and said “If you see what’s happening in the world, these are small problems.” She doesn’t want to complain.
The Swiss lost to Canadian Leylah Fernandez in the third round of the French Open in three tight sets.
