Goran Ivanisevic: “There’s a lot of media, agents, too much internet”

In a recent interview with La Repubblica, Ivanisevic talked about several things like including being hopeful that Novak will get a special visa for the US Open starting this month, he also talked about the fundamental differences between current players and the players of his generation, and also about the impact of social media and internet on tennis players.

He said, “There are essential differences between each generation. In my time, players were friends. We often went out together, to dinners, in groups. Today it’s not like that anymore, the players only greet each other on the field, rarely when they are together outside. There is no relationship between them. There’s a lot of media, agents, too much internet.”

Ivanisevic’s statements are somewhat right because we do not see opponents having time together outside the field. Some players do not even use social media in fear that it will distract them from focusing. After splitting with Cilic in 2016, Goran started coaching Tomas Berdych from 2016-2017 and then Milos Raonic from 2018-19 before he finally joined Djokovic.
