World No. 8 Taylor Fritz is the 2015 ITF Junior World Champion and the current No. 1 American player. The player has won 4 ATP career titles and has reached the quarter-finals of the 2022 Wimbledon. Fritz recently reacted to a college-level match video that has been circulating on social media platforms.

The video shows a player from Rashford University making an obviously unfair line call. Despite the ball landing in the middle of the court, the player shouted as the ball hit the ground. Fans have been accusing the player of cheating while others are lauding him for making such an absurd call.

Collegiate-level tennis often gives the authority to the players themselves to call their lines. This expectedly leads to tons of cheating or ‘hooking’, usually in junior tennis. Fritz called out the player for the hook and also sympathized with him for his actions. The American said he used to do the same when someone cheated him.

Fritz also added that if the outrageous call was made ‘unprovoked’, then it’s absolutely ‘disgusting’. Other players such as Thanasi Kokkinakis and Liam Borady humorously replied to Fritz’s tweet. Broady went on to say that the call was obviously in ‘retaliation’ for the opponent’s cheating.

After leading Team America to victory in the United Cup against Italy, Taylor Fritz is set to play in the Dallas Open. The 25-year-old is to play against fellow American Jack Sock. As the No. 1 seed, the American will now co-headline the ATP 250 Dallas Open with Frances Tiafoe. Riley Opelka, the defending champion, had to withdraw due to injury. Other players like Denis Shapovalov and Miomir Kecmanovic are also on the entry list. The Round of 16 matches is slotted to be played on Wednesday.
