He surprised everyone after reaching his first major final at the 2022 Wimbledon Championships after Rafael Nadal gave him a walkover because of the abdominal injury he suffered during the quarter-finals against Taylor Fritz.
Kyrgios, after all the controversies around him, has managed to bring out his ‘A’ game whenever needed. He scripted history by becoming the first unseeded player in 19 years to reach Wimbledon men’s singles final. Norlaila Kyrgios (mother of Nick) was born in Gombak, a district in Selangor, Malaysia, her grandfather’s cousin was the Sultan of Pahang. This makes her, by birth, the Tengku of Pahang, which translates to the princess of the Pahang state. She moved to Australia in her 20s, choosing to give up her title and leave behind her royal roots, and started her career as a computer engineer.
Giorgos Kyrgios who is the father of Nick is of Greek origin and is a well-recognized tennis player who now works as a self-employed house painter. He has not mentioned his exact birthdate but he seems to be nearly 50 years old.
Giorgos Kyrgios and Norlaila Kyrgios met in Australia and started their family. They have three kids together who are Christos and Halimah and both of them are older siblings to Nick. Norlaila is currently not her son playing in the Wimbledon as she wanted to witness the birth of her grandchild whereas Giorgos has attended all matches of Nick.
