Novak Djokovic, the 35-year-old Serbian won his 21st Grand Slam title yesterday in the form of the 2022 Wimbledon after defeating Nick Kyrgios by 4-6,6-3,6-4,7-6(3). This was Djokovic’s fourth consecutive and his 7th Wimbledon title, he has been hailed as one of the greatest players of all time in the past few years and he proved that right as he keeps defending his title year after year.

After losing the first set to Kyrgios, Djokovic believed that composure would be key in the final as he produced a sensational display of Tennis after the first, not letting Kyrgios make a comeback at all after the Australian overpowered Djokovic in the first set. The Serbian’s experience came in handy in defeating Kyrgios to whom he had never won a set to before yesterday’s match.

How much prize money will Novak Djokovic be taking home after winning the 2022 Wimbledon title?

Djokovic after winning the 2022 Wimbledon title will be earning $2.3 million (£2,000,000) in prize money with the finalist Nick Kyrgios earning a total of $1.2 million (1,253,936 dollars). The prize money is less this time around than in the pre-covid era when the prize money for winning the 2019 Wimbledon was $2.8 million where there was full capacity allowed. The players competed for a total prize pool of $48,198,639 which is a 15.25 percent increase from last year.

Djokovic earning $2.3 million in prize money is also an increase of 17.65 percent than 2021. Wimbledon organizers explained: “Investing in the players is of paramount importance for The Championships and the total prize money for tennis events for 2022 reflects this with an 11.1 percent increase on 2021, and a 5.4 percent increase on the most recent full capacity Championships in 2019.
