World No. 3 Ons Jabeur has been on scintillating form for the past couple of months and after winning the title in Madrid and Berlin and finishing as the runners-up in Rome and Charleston, she is on a hunt for her first major Grand Slam title. She has shown great character and has been staggering form in the first two matches at Wimbledon. She beat Mirjam Bjorklund in the first round tie and also went past Katarzyna Kawa in the second round tie with quite ease. In her third round match against Diane Parry, she just never let the match slip away even for a minute and ended the match in straight sets resulting in an easy 6-2, 6-3 win and booked her place in the round of 16. She is already looking like a title contender along with Iga Swiatek.

On the other hand, Elise Mertens who already has six major titles to her name hasn’t had a great year so far. She has just gone past the round of 16 mark twice in the 13 tournaments she has played in. She faced Camila Osorio in the first round tie and she had to battle hard to win the three set contest and then she faced Panna Udvardy and went past her with real ease and comfort. She then took on former champion Angelique Kerber and performed amazingly and pulled away a shock victory winning the match by 6-4 7-5.
