Draw Preview
Group Stages
Both the groups of the WTA Finals are pretty competitive. The favorites from the Bacalar group are undoubtedly Aryna Sabalenka and Elena Rybakina. However, in-form Maria Sakkari might create problems for the other three. Jessica Pegula might be out of form but if she makes a comeback in the WTA Finals, she can also make it to the semis. We predict that Aryna Sabalenka and Elena Rybakina will proceed to the semifinals with this group.
In group 2, Iga Swiatek and Coco Gauff are the unanimous favorites. Although Ons Jabeur did pretty well in the Wimbledon Open, she has been inconsistent this year and thus we predict that Iga and Coco will proceed to the semis.
Semifinals
According to the above-mentioned estimation, Aryna Sabalenka is most likely to face Coco Gauff in the first semifinal, while Elena Rybakina might face Iga Swiatek in the second semifinal. Coco Gauff is expected to repeat her dominance against the Belarusian, which she started in the US Open final. Iga Swiatek, on the other hand, recently won the China Open and has gained her confidence back. She is expected to defeat Elena Rybakina easily in the second semifinal.
Final
Coco Gauff is most likely to face Iga Swiatek in the final of the WTA Finals. We have seen these two players go head-to-head against each other quite a few times lately. Coco Gauff beat the Polish international for the first time ever in the 2023 Cincinnati Open. Recently, Iga took her revenge in the semifinal of the China Open where she beat the American in straight sets. Although it is hard to predict the outcome of this match, Iga Swiatek has all the tools in her arsenal required to defeat Coco Gauff and she will be the favorite to win the 2023 Finals.
