Anett Kontaveit, Barbora Krejcikova, Elise Mertens - Top-3 seeds of the WTA Prague Open 2022
The WTA Prague Open 2022 will be the first tournament to be played on hardcourts after the grasscourt and claycourt season concludes. It will be the final tournament of the month that will be played simultaneously with the claycourt event in Poland with both the tournaments in the WTA-250 category. This year’s event will be the 13th edition of the tournament.

Top-seed Anett Kontaveit starts against Ekaterina Gorgodze and will be likely to take on Karolina Muchova who starts against wildcard Lucie Havlickova. Vitalia Diatchenko takes on Lin Zhu in the opener and the winner is likely to take on 7th seeded Anastasia Potapova who takes on Xinyu Wang.
3rd seed Elise Mertens takes on Magda Linette with the winner of the clash set to meet the victorious player from the match between Daria Snigur and Viktoriya Tomova. Lucia Bronzetti and Rebecca Peterson will lock horns and the winner will take on the winner from the match between 6th seeded Alison Van Uytvanck and yet to be confirmed qualifier.

Bottom Half
8th seed Marie Bouzkova also awaits a qualifier in the first round and so does Ylena In-Albon. Tereza Martincova and Chloe Pacquet will face off each other and the winner is likely to take on 4th seed Sorana Cirstea who starts off against a qualifier. 5th seed Alize Cornet will also take on a qualifier in the first round and so will wildcard entrant Linda Noskova.
Mihaela Buzarnescu and a qualifier will compete in the first round with 2nd seed and defending champion Barbora Krejcikova, the local girl at the event, takes on Anna Blinkova in hopes of reviving her season in the singles discipline.
2nd Semifinal Prediction: Barbora Krejcikova vs Sorana Cirstea
Semifinals
Mertens and Kontaveit are likely to meet for the 6th time on the Tour this week and Kontaveit with her supreme form will look to back herself to get the win over her Belgian counterpart and level the head-to-head where Elise leads 3-2. As for the match between Krejckova and Cirstea, they can meet potentially for the 4th time and Krejcikova looks likely to extend her 2-1 head-to-head lead.
WTA Prague Open 2022 Final: Anett Kontaveit vs Barbora Krejcikova
Final
Kontaveit and Krejcikova are the favourites to make it to the finals and will meet for the 3rd time if they clash in the finals. With one win apiece, the two will be looking for the title for which Kontaveit looks slightly better suited given she reaches Prague after a runner-up finish in Hamburg while Krejcikova lost in the quarter-finals in Hamburg.
