The WTA Zhengzhou Open is finally making a comeback, four years after its inaugural season in 2019. In the only edition that has been played of the ATP 500 tournament so far, Karolina Pliskova emerged as the winner. This year, the winner of the event will receive a prize of $120,150 and 470 ranking points.
Coco Gauff, Elena Rybakina, and Karolina Muchova were earlier supposed to take part in the tournament, but they stepped down after the draws were made. Three of them are suffering from right shoulder, lower back, and continuing right wrist injuries, respectively. Thus, Maria Sakkari emerged as the top seed of the tournament.

Singles Draw Preview
First Quarter
Barbora Krejcikova, Petra Martic, and Lesia Tsurenko are some of the big names that are present in the first quarter of the draw. Barbora Krejcikova has received bye and will thus start her campaign directly from the second round, where she might face Petra Martic. The winner of this match might face Lesia Tsurenko in the quarterfinals. It must be noted that Petra Martic was the finalist in the inaugural edition of the WTA Zhengzhou Open.
Second Quarter
Ons Jabeur and Daria Kasatkina have been placed in the second quarter of the draw. Ons Jabeur has received the bye and will not have to play the first round of the tournament. She will directly face the winner of the match between Lucia Bronzetti and Hanyu Guo in the second round of the tournament. Fans will probably get to see a quarterfinal match between Ons Jabeur and Daria Kasatkina.
Third Quarter
Tournament top seed Maria Sakkari and Veronika Kudermetova have been placed in the third draw of the tournament and they will probably meet in the quarterfinals as well. Maria Sakkari, being the top seed, has got bye and will directly face the winner of Kateryna Volodko vs. Qinwen Zheng in the second round. Maria Sakkari has been handed by far the easiest route to the final.
Fourth Quarter
Liudmila Samsonova, who recently reached the final of the 2023 China Open, and Caroline Garcia have been placed in the fourth quarter of the Zhenzhou Open 2023. They will probably lock horns in the quarterfinals of the tournament. Caroline Garcia has been handed a bye and thus she will directly start her campaign in the second round of the Zhengzhou Open.
