Nick Kyrgios forgets shoes

Nick Kyrgios on the court is guaranteed entertainment. The 26-year old Australian is one of the most candid and no-nonsense player on the tour and expresses his opinions without any filter and fear of facing any action.

He was quite blunt and honest speaking about the surface at this year’s Wimbledon which came under scrutiny with injuries to Adrian Mannarino and Serena Williams in back-to-back matches on the Centre Court at the All-England Club. Kyrgios blamed the authorities of having manipulated the surface for more rallies on the court for the fans watching it on TV.

While his behaviour is often criticised by the officials, the fans absolutely love him. In his 2nd round game against Gianluca Mager, Kyrgios went near the stands to take advice from the people who suggested him different moves and plans which the Australian tried and when successful, thanked them.

Prior to his 3rd round match, Nick gave another light-hearted moment when he realised he had forgotten his match shoes and had to request an official to get them for him so that the match could be started.

The one day I thought I was being a professional, walking out here so confidently and then, bang. Left the shoes in the locker room.” joked Kyrgios waiting for his shoes.

Nick‘s campaign ended in an unfortunate way as he was forced to pull out from the match after reporting an abdominal injury while playing against Felix Auger-Aliassime in the 3rd round. The 3rd set was about to begin after Kyrgios won the 1st set 6-2 and Felix won the 2nd set 6-1.

Kyrgios had also partnered Venus Williams in the Mixed Doubles winning their 1st round match in 3-sets yesterday. But with his withdrawal, the pair may also be forced to withdraw from the tournament, a tragic ending for the pair who had been planning to pair up for a long time.

Kyrgios felt his body sore and many pointed it out to his lack of playtime as he was playing his first tournament on the tour since the 2021 Australian Open.

The assessment of his injury will determine the future tournaments for the Australian, who promised to return back next year at the Championships.
