World No. 1 Novak Djokovic has been in tremendous form lately. The Serbian national recently won the French Open for the second time in his illustrious career. He went past several top-seeded players and even thrashed ‘King of Clay’ Rafael Nadal to get his hands on the coveted trophy.

Although the modern-day great has been in the news for his achievements, his feud with Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios has also attracted a lot of eyeballs. It would be fair to say that Djokovic sure has innumerable fans across the globe, but Kyrgios is definitely not one of them.

Kyrgios has never backed down from taking a dig at Novak Djokovic. The Aussie is known for being outspoken and this time around, the 26-year-old tennis star has jokingly claimed that Djokovic ended up winning the French Open 2021 because of him.

Kyrgios recently posted a picture on his Instagram in which Novak and he are on the clay court, presumably before a practice session. Kyrgios captioned the post: “Yes this photo is real … how u think he won RG.”

“I don’t have much respect for him”: Djokovic on Kyrgios

Supposedly, the feud between the two tennis stars started back in 2019 when Kyrgios openly claimed that Djokovic wanted everyone to like and praise him. He went on to say that Djokovic wants to become like the Swiss legend Roger Federer.

I just feel like he has a sick obsession with wanting to be liked,” Kyrgios said on the No Challenges Remaining podcast. “He just wants to be like Roger Federer.” Kyrgios also called Djokovic a “tool” before the Australian Open last time around.

The remarks from the Australian came after the Serbian national wrote a letter complaining about his fellow players’ quarantine situation. Djokovic has also replied to the observations made by Kyrgios on a few occasions. However, most of the sledges and cheeky comments have been made by the Australian.

After the Australian Open controversy, the Serbian star responded with, “Off the court, I don’t have much respect for Kyrgios, to be honest. That’s where I’ll close it.”

Kyrgios did not participate in the French Open this time around, however, he surely has made the headlines after the marquee event came to an end by trolling Djokovic.
