Kei Nishikori reaches his first semi-final since 2019 and will be looking to make the most of it given he’s the most experienced semi-finalist at the Washington Open this year. Nishikori has dropped just a solitary set this week in Washington in his 3-set win over the in-form Brit Cameron Norrie.

Nishikori was up against South African Lloyd Harris who came into the clash defeating the top-seeded Rafael Nadal in the Round of 16. Nishikori however got the better of Harris in a crunch match winning the tie 6-3, 7-5 in 1 hour and 53 minutes to advance into the semi-finals.

Mackenzie McDonald makes it to his 2nd ATP semi-final as he goes past the hometown favourite Denis Kudla 6-3, 6-2 in 1 hour and 15 minutes registering his 3rd straight-set win of the week in the US capital. McDonald has also been a surprise semi-finalist as he comes from a tough road to the semi-finals.

Mackenzie started against the defending champion Nick Kyrgios and went on to defeat him in straight-sets. He then went the distance with Benoit Paire defeating him 6-7(6), 6-4, 6-4, the only instance of the American dropping a set. He then defeated Belarusian Ilya Ivashka 6-4, 6-4 in the Round of 16 continuing his dream run for his maiden ATP title.
