After weeks of denials that he will no longer return, Brady has made a u-turn and is now coming back for his 23rd season, just 6 weeks after he brought the curtain down on his illustrious career. The 5-time Super Bowl MVP shared a post on his official Twitter handle saying he reflected on his decision in these past two months and is now back for some ‘unfinished business.’
Venus who recently made a guest appearance at the ‘Keep Going Podcast’, expressed her admiration for the NFL great and hailed his achievements saying the consistency with which he performed at the top level was second to none. So it was no surprise to see Venus’ visible delight over Brady’s u-turn over his retirement.
“I can’t tell you how much of a big fan I am. I can’t watch the match, his games are a bit too nervous. So we have some of the same team members and I’m just like I’m such a huge fan and I don’t know to tell him or not but just a massive fan and I respect so much what he’s done,” she said in an earlier interview.
Venus Williams is yet to play a match in 6 months
As for Venus, her return to action is still unclear. Her last match was at the 2021 WTA Chicago Fall Tennis Classic in August, in which she suffered a second-round exit to Su Wei Hsieh. As a result, she has plummeted down the standings and is now ranked 1421st. Williams had to withdraw from the Australian Open this year and said she is still recuperating from her injury. However, Venus has proclaimed that she is adamant on making a return but hasn’t specified any timeline yet.
“More than anything, I am, guess what gearing to get back on tour. Can’t wait,” she said in an Instagram Q&A last month but is yet to give an update on it.
