“He ain’t replacing Vajda with YOU,” Patrick Mouratoglou trolled on Twitter for his controversial take on Novak Djokovic being the best ever on clay

Rafael Nadal is one of the stalwarts in not only tennis but in the world of sports. The Spaniard from Mallorca is often regarded among sporting greats. Such is the stature of the man who has suffered a lot in his career but yet stood up every time he was brought down.
Meanwhile, World No. 1 Novak Djokovic will finally have regular matches as the rules in Europe with respect to Covid-19 vaccination are comparatively relaxed from other parts of the globe that has seen the 20-time Grand Slam champion play only 3 matches so far this year.
Patrick Mouratoglou hails Novak Djokovic as the greatest on clay
Patrick Mouratoglou made a bold claim recently, remarking that Novak Djokovic, at his peak, is a better player than Rafael Nadal on clay. The esteemed coach was of the opinion that the World No. 1 would be the favorite for this year’s Roland Garros as a result, noting that his win over the Spaniard in the 2021 edition would give him a slight edge.
“When he is at his best, I think Djokovic is the best player in the world, even on clay. I know it’s weird to say that when you see the number of Roland Garros that #Nadal has won, but if you look at the figures, Novak beats Rafa many times on clay,” said Mouratoglou.
However, it should be noted that the loss the Mallorcan sustained in Paris last year was only his eighth on the surface against Djokovic. The World No. 4 has amassed 19 wins against the Serb on clay over the years.
“If they have to play each other in the last stages of Roland Garros this year, last year’s match will count in their minds 100%. Rafa is going to be tense and Novak will be much more aggressive because he will be more confident going against Rafa,” added Mouratoglou.
At the French Open, the Spaniard has beaten the Serb six times to date, while losing only twice. Novak Djokovic may be the only player to have defeated the 35-year-old twice in the tournament, but their head-to-head record clearly indicates that the Mallorcan has been the superior player on clay.
