Novak Djokovic climbs on top for “this Open Era record” overtakes Rafael Nadal

World No. 1 Novak Djokovic success continues in the 2021 season despite the Serbian not being active in any tournament currently. Novak moves to 1st place possessing the best winning percentage in the Open Era after Spaniard Rafael Nadal suffered a shocking defeat in the 3rd round at the 2021 Washington Open.
Nadal was up against South African Lloyd Harris in the Round of 16 at the Washington Open and ended up losing 4-6,6-1,4-6 in his comeback on the tour after his semi-final exit at the 2021 French Open. Nadal was playing with his foot injury but showed glimpses of his true form in both the matches he played at the tournament.
His defeat however helped Novak go past him as Nadal now sees his winning percentage stand at 83.104% with 1028 wins and 209 defeats in 1237 matches across his career. Novak on the other hand now has a winning rate of 83.148% with 972 wins and 197 losses from his 1169 matches across his career.
Rafael Nadal confirms his participation in the upcoming 2021 Toronto Masters, Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer to miss out

Rafael Nadal spoke about his foot injury after the loss against Harris at the Washington Open giving rise to speculations about his future tournaments. The Spaniard however cleared the air around it and confirmed that he will be participating in the upcoming 2021 Toronto Masters in his preparation for the 2021 US Open.
Nadal will be one of the headliners for the tournament after Roger Federer forcibly pulled off from the tournament in Toronto and also the one later in Cincinnati as he continues his struggles with the long going knee injury that he picked up again at the 2021 Wimbledon.
Novak will also be missing out as the Serbian is taking time to relax after a gruelling week in Tokyo at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics where he lost in the Bronze Medal match in the Singles event and was forced to withdraw from the Bronze Medal Match of the Mixed Doubles as he could not continue with trouble in his left shoulder which was later revealed to be there before he came to Tokyo.
The 2021 Toronto Masters will begin from 9th August with the finals scheduled on 15th August 2021.
