Novak Djokovic reveals what “Great Advice” from Tom Brady has helped him over the years
Tom Brady and Novak Djokovic
World No.1 Novak Djokovic is currently in a league of his own. He is inching closer to a record breaking 21st major and is on his way to cement himself as the greatest of all time. The Serbian maestro has been the most consistent player this season and was just one win away from completing the calendar slam.
Like every champion, Djokovic too constantly tries to upgrade himself and seeks advise from different personalities. He spoke same about the same to Serbian journalists at Innsbruck. He first said that his foremost source for advise are his near and dear ones.
“Of course, from my nearest and dearest – family, friends, and the team – they know me the best and their advice always comes in the opportune moments and is always just what I need to hear,” Djokovic said.
He added that he is close to Serbian sporting legend and Olympic gold medalist Vladimir Vanja Grbic– a volleyball player known for his fierce character and winning mentality.
“Yes, Vanja Grbic is someone who I regard highly, I have a very pleasant relationship with him – he is extremely smart, a successful sportsman, a great champion and legend of Serbian sport,” Djokovic added. “He shared with me wisdom for both sport and for life. He was always known for being a fearless competitor of high intensity and devotion.”
‘I ask questions to those who have reached the pinnacle of their sport’: Djokovic
Djokovic also revealed the players he spoke to which included Kobe Bryant and probably the greatest NFL player ever Tom Brady, 7-time Super Bowl champion. He said that he asks questions to people who have reached the pinnacle of their sport.
“I was close with Kobe Bryant, as well as Monica Seles, Andre Agassi and Boris Becker, who were my coaches, and Pete Sampras,” he said.
“I have spoken often with them, and I speak with Tom Brady frequently about training and recovery. I make an effort to make use of the opportunity to share something with all sportsmen and sportswomen, things that aided me or hindered me, and I ask questions, especially to those who have reached the pinnacle of their sport.”
