Novak Djokovic to play doubles at the 2021 Paris Masters in preparation for the 2021 Davis Cup

20-time grand slam champion Novak Djokovic has announced his participation in the doubles category of the upcoming 2021 Paris Masters in Bercy, France. This decision comes in lieu of his participation and preparation for the upcoming 2021 Davis Cup.
After a year of highs, that resulted in 3 grand slam trophies, Novak faced the music in the finals of the 2021 US Open. Losing the match in straight sets to Russian Daniil Medvedev crushed his dreams of being the second man in the Open Era to win a calendar grand slam.
Now, Novak is seeking redemption in form of patriotism. His name was officially announced in the roster of players representing Serbia in the Davis Cup. In order to lead his team and country to victory, he has started preparations in full swing.
In the doubles category of the Paris Masters, he will be partnering with compatriot Filip Krajinovic.
Novak Djokovic’s performance at the Davis Cup
In 2010, Serbia defeated France 3-2 to win its maiden Davis Cup title. Novak Djokovic played a key role in this historic win.
Djokovic started out by winning both the singles quarterfinal matches against Team USA, against Sam Querrey and John Isner respectively.
In the finals, Novak scored two singles points for Serbia by defeating Frenchmen Giles Simmons and Gael Monfils. The final match won by Victor Troicki resulted in Serbia lifting the trophy for the very first time.
The Serbian Davis Cup Team
The current Serbian national team is captained by Victor Troicki, who was instrumental in bringing in their first Davis Cup win.
Team members include Novak Djokovic, Filip Krajinovic, Dusan Lajovic, Laslo Djere and Miomir Kekmanovic.
Doubles rush at the Paris Masters
This edition of the Rolex Paris Masters will see the participation of many singles players, apart from Novak Djokovic, in the doubles event.
