The news about the world No.1 getting a medical exemption has caused widespread anger amongst the Australian population. According to them, it is really irresponsible for the medical experts to allow an unvaccinated foreigner to barge into the country and treat him like a VIP.
Fans in RAGE after Novak Djokovic gets a Medical Exemption
Ever since Novak Djokovic released the statement about getting an exemption people both online and offline have been voicing their concerns over allowing the world No.1’s participation.
According to a report conducted by the 9-news Melbourne, the people in Melbourne are in rage with Djokovic’s participation in the Australian Open, 2022.
In the report, some of the fans can be saying, “We have someone that has come from overseas, and all of sudden he’s been exempted and can play. I think it’s a DISGRACE and I won’t be watching him.”
This anger in the public is justifiable due to the things that Melbourne has been through in the past two years. Finally, the restrictions were being lifted and the people had some freedom to move around.
But with unvaccinated players coming into the city with medical exemptions and Omicron lurking to latch on to any opportunity it gets, there is a huge possibility that this tournament might be a safety hazard.
Some of the fans were speculative about the whole issue. In the same report, another fan says, “It’s hard to see how an exemption on the basis of health could affect an elite athlete”
