Seeded third Holger Rune has had a great season so far and won his first title at the 2022 BMW Open after receiving a wildcard entry. He beat Jiri Lehecka, Alexander Zverev, Emil Ruusuvuori and Oscar Otte in the way to his first title and at the final his opponent Botic van de Zandschulp retired in the middle of the match. He also made it to the quarter finals of the French Open and earned notable wins against opponents Denis Shapovalov and Stefanos Tsitsipas before losing to Casper Ruud in the quarterfinals but since then he is yet to win a single match.

On the other hand, Bernabe Zapata Miralles is having a great season and has maintained a 6-10 win-loss ratio so far. He played in the main draw at Roland Garros and also the Wimbledon.
