Naomi Osaka has had a poor start to the new season, dissapointing in the Australian Open after exiting in the third round, and then crashing out of the Indian Wells Masters in the second round.

It became worse for her as in the 2022 Indian Wells Open, former champion Naomi Osaka was heckled by the crowd during her match that saw the Japanese superstar break down in tears amidst the match. Playing against Veronika Kudermetova, Naomi lost the match 0-6, 4-6 but despite the good tennis played by the players, the heckling incident overshadowed the sport.

Colin Kaepernick became the latest investor in Naomi Osaka’s brand KINLO. The former San Francisco 49ers and social justice activist recently joined forces with tennis star Naomi Osaka for KINLO, her functional suncare brand formulated specifically for people with melanated skin. He will now be joining alongside Osaka, A-Frame co-founders Hill Harper and Ari Bloom, plus Osaka’s agent Stuart Duguid.

According to the Kinlò website, “Designed for Black and Brown skin tones, Kinlò products are formulated with natural ingredients like jojoba seed oil, hemp seed and green tea to address common melanated skin concerns.”

The American stated his delight and honour to join the brand, revealing his belief in the ideals and the goals of the organization. The former NFL quarterback also revealed that he believed KINLO has the power to make a change in the world.

“I am honored to join Naomi and her amazing KINLÒ team of diverse and experienced leaders as the company works to grow a responsible business all while maintaining its commitment to the community we have set out to serve. Not only does KINLÒ produce compelling and sustainable personal care products, but it also calls attention to the ways that melanated skin-toned communities are often marginalized in research around suncare and often excluded from clinical studies on skin cancer. I believe KINLÒ has the capacity to right this wrong.” Said Kaepernick.
