“Tennis plays for Ukraine!” Iga Swiatek sends a strong message about unification ahead of the 2022 US Open

World No.1 Iga Swiatek recently took part in the ‘Tennis Plays for Peace’ event organized by the US Open which was held to raise funds to support humanitarian relief efforts toward the war in Ukraine. Swiatek paired up with 22-time grand slam champion Rafael Nadal to take on the American pairing of Coco Gauff and John McEnroe.

The Nadal-Swiatek duo came out victorious with the event raising over $1 million. All of the funds will be given to aid the people of Ukraine who have suffered in the ongoing war with Russia through an independent organization. Swiatek took to social media to share how all of them have raised a lot of money.

The Pole hosted a charity event to raise funds for Ukraine a few weeks ago back home in Poland too and now, shared how happy she was to share the court with Nadal, Gauff, and McEnroe in New York.

“We played for Ukraine, again! After our charity event in Poland where we raised more than 500 000 Euro, another exhibition took place, this time in New York City. It was a pleasure to share a court with you, @RafaelNadal, @CocoGauff & Mr. McEnroe! Tennis plays for Ukraine,” Swiatek wrote.
