With the biopic drama ‘King Richard‘ nominated in multiple categories at the Oscars 2022, Venus Williams and Serena Williams were not to miss the opportunity to support the movie they made in tribute to their father Richard Williams who continues to remain their coach having taken his daughters to the pinnacle of success.
The movie hit the theatres last year and received wide acclaim from critics and fans for showing the humble beginnings of the Williams family and how Richard’s passion and determination to make his daughters the best players in the world had various obstacles. It also highlighted the issues like racism and biasedness towards the family but how they remained unbothered with the sole goal of reaching the top ignoring and fighting all the obstacles together.
The movie received 6 nominations for the 94th Academy Awards including Best Picture for Tim White, Trevor White and Will Smith, Best Actor for Smith for his role as Richard, the Best Original Screenplay for Zach Baylin, Best Supporting Actor for Aunjanue Ellis, Best Film Editing for Pamela Martin and Best Original Song for Dixson and Beyonce for ‘Be Alive’.
With the Oscars being an important event for the Wiliams family for their vested interest, Venus and Serena along with Serena’s husband Alexis Ohanian attended the event hoping to see their movie win some accolade. While Venus wore a white gown, Serena went with a pink dress with black patterns to match with her black netted gloves.

The Williams sisters were also selected as award presenters in a long list of celebrities for the 94th Academy Awards. The night became even special when Will Smith won the Best Actor award, his first-ever Oscars in the category after having been in the industry for nearly 3 decades.
It was an emotional moment for Will as well as the Williams family for their movie earning an Oscar award, the highest possible honour in Hollywood. The Williams sisters were also the producers for the movie and after the commercial successes of the movie last year upon its release, as producers, seeing their movie win an Oscar is another feather in the cap for the highly successful Williams sisters.
