It’s time for the final master’s event of the calendar as Paris plays host to the 51st edition of the Rolex Paris Masters, starting October 28th. The tournament will take place on the indoor hard courts of Accor Arena. 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic arrives in the tournament as the first seed and has won the tournament a record six times.
World No.6 Holger Rune enters the tournament as the defending champion. The Norwegian got the better of Djokovic in a close 3-setter to win his first Masters title. The main draw matches will begin on October 30 after two qualifying rounds. The top seeds for the tournament will receive a first-round bye.
The tournament will be crucial in deciding the final qualifying spots for the ATP Finals to be played in Turin, Italy. Novak Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz, Daniil Medvedev, and Jannik Sinner have already qualified for the year-end championship and are the respective top-4 seeds in Paris. Andrey Rublev is next in line to qualify and will be looking to confirm his spot courtesy of a strong performance in Paris.
On the other hand, Holger Rune, who holds the last qualifying spot, is in desperate need of a deep run in the tournament to make sure he doesn’t slip out of the qualifying spots. High-flying American southpaw Ben Shelton arrives in the tournament on the back of his first career ATP title win at the Japan Open. The World No. 15 would need a title run in Paris to stand a chance of qualifying for the ATP Finals.
World No. 1 Novak Djokovic enters the tournament as the favorite as he looks forward to winning a record-extending 40th Masters title. The 36-year-old will be making his first tour-level appearance since he helped Serbia into the last eight of the Davis Cup.
The main draw for the tournament will take place on Saturday, October 30, at 12:00 p.m. local time. There have been six different champions in the eight Masters tournaments this year. Rublev and Sinner won their first Masters in Monte Carlo and Montreal, respectively. Big-serving Pole Hubert Hurkacz won the previous masters tournament, held in Shanghai.
