“Rafa is gonna have 22!” John McEnroe BELIEVES that Rafael Nadal will take a leap ahead of rivals Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer

Rafael Nadal has become the favorite of social media and news reporters again. The player has captured the headlines with his incredible win at the Australian Open 2022 where he defeated World No.2, Daniil Medvedev, in the finals with a score of 2-6, 6-7, 6-4, 6-4, 7-5. The match between the two legends was amazing and they played their best tennis. In the first two sets, Daniil won leaving Rafa’s fans in shock. But the level of tennis demonstrated by Rafa in the last set was beyond imagination and it led him to not only win the crown but also millions of hearts.
Rafa playing at the Aussie Open was a surprise for everyone as he was severely injured while playing a match last season which left him off the court for the rest of the season. But he came and he conquered.
McEnroe on Rafael Nadal
Former tennis legend John McEnroe has always been a fan of Rafa and his playing style. When Rafa won the Australian Open 2022, the American legend congratulated him and sent a beautiful message in an interview. But at the same interview, he also said about the Big 3 of tennis and how he thinks that Rafa will win 22 Grand Slams before Novak and Roger.
“What I wanted was that they all end up with the same number,” McEnroe said. “It’s okay if they are all at 21 and it’s okay if they are all at 22. I’ve already seen that Roger sent out a tweet and Novak – which I think is classy to congratulate him – because that’s what sports is all about. What we just watched is what gives people goosebumps, and why you dream about being part of a match like that.”
He said that he is doubtful that Roger is going to play tennis anymore while Novak may not be able to play at the French Open given his current situation.
“I am proud as an ex-tennis player that I was able to watch someone do that, I admire that. It made me think wow, I wish I could have tried harder, found a way to do more. It’s really an incredible achievement. I would never want someone to lose – especially the way that played out, I wouldn’t want that to happen – it just seems like they’re all so great that you sort of want them to tie, but at this point obviously, it’s doubtful,” McEnroe added.
“I think it’s doubtful that Roger’s gonna win another one. How much is he going to play? But then again, you know, we didn’t expect Rafa to do that here. With Novak, everything’s up in the air at the moment, especially if he’s not playing in the French. The next thing, you know, Rafa is gonna have 22,” McEnroe summed up.
