After a poor second half of the 2021 season, Andrey Rublev has finally found his lost form and is playing his best tennis currently. After bowing out of the third round at the Australian Open, Rublev made it to the semifinals at Rotterdam. After that, he won back-to-back titles at Marseille and Dubai and has been amazing this week at Indian Wells too.

He is yet to drop a set at the Californian desert and has stormed into the semifinals after a victory over Grigor Dimitrov in the quarterfinals. He defeated the Bulgarian convincingly in straight sets 7-5,6-2. He will face American 20th seed Taylor Fritz in the last 4 on Saturday. In the post-match press conference, Rublev expressed his love for the sport and revealed how much he enjoys traveling and practicing. He added that he feels very motivated to be a better player and is always looking forward to playing in the next tournament.

“I really love this sport. I’m enjoying traveling. I’m enjoying practicing. I really want to improve. At the moment I feel I’m young and I’m really motivated to improve, to be a better player. It’s like sometimes I cannot wait to go to play next tournament,” he said.

In the same press conference, Rublev, who is currently riding a 13-match winning streak, spoke about Rafael Nadal too. The Spaniard has had the best ever start to his season and is currently 19-0 in 2022. The Russian was nothing but in awe of Rafa and said that he’s the best player in tennis history. He added that sometimes it’s best to sit back and enjoy Rafa play.

“Rafa is the best in history player. He can do anything. Sometimes is better just to sit down, to watch and enjoy him play,” Rublev said with a smile on his face.

Nadal and Rublev could meet in the Indian Wells final on Sunday if they both manage to win their semifinal matches. This potential match would be their 4th meeting with Rublev having won the last time they met in Monte Carlo last season.
