Rafael Nadal Watch Collection: From RM 027 to RM 011-03
Rafael Nadal has been a brand ambassador the luxurious watch company, Richard Mille since 2010.
Rafael Nadal
Rafael Nadal is often known as the greatest tennis player of all-time. The Spaniard currently holds the record for most Grand Slam titles won, with 22 Majors to his name. The 36-year-old has an enviable wardrobe of watches, which speaks volumes about his great fashion sense.
Rafael Nadal has been a brand ambassador for Richard Mille since 2010, and is seen wearing no other watch except this single brand. Initially, he was always against the idea of wearing a watch while competing on court. However, Richard Mille somehow managed to convince the tennis star to become the brand ambassador for the luxurious watch company.
Richard Mille RM027
Rafael Nadal was actively involved in designing the watches, which were lightweight, and easy to wear during matches. He wore the Richard Mille watch for the first time in a match in 2010. At that time, the RM 027 was the lightest watch ever manufactured, weighing less than 20 grams. The piece went through rigorous real-world testing, before Rafael Nadal made the decision to wear it on his wrist in 2010.
Richard Mille RM 27-01
Richard Mille launched the RM 27-01 “Rafael Nadal” in 2013, breaking its own record for the lightest watch ever produced. The RM 27-01 weighted just under 19 grams, and currently sells on the secondary market at a price of $1,750,000 USD. The collection just had 50 pieces, and set a new precedent for what was to follow.
Richard Mille RM 27-02
In 2016, the collection would get another update after the introduction of the RM 27-02 “Rafael Nadal.” RM 27-02 “Rafael Nadal” was partly made using TPT Quartz, the first time that it was ever used in making a watch. The piece currently sells for around $1,300,000 USD on the secondary market.
Richard Mille RM 27-03
The RM 27-03 was launched in 2017. The watch had a limited collection of only 50 watches, and has a current market price of around $1,685,000 USD. The case of this watch is designed to reflect the colors of Rafael Nadal’s home country, Spain. The watch’s tourbillon movement had the ability to withstand shocks of up to 10,000 g’s.
Richard Mille RM 27-04
The RM 27-04 was launched in 2020 to celebrate the 10-year collaboration between Richard Mille and Rafael Nadal. It sells for around $2,150,000 USD on the grey market, and can withstand shocks of up to 12,000 g’s. The watch came up with a unique innovation, as it introduced tennis racket strings around the dial.
Richard Mille RM 011-03
The most recently launched watch is one of a kind, given that it is not designed and manufactured for Rafael Nadal himself. The RM 011-03 has a rose gold case, and the Spaniard was seen wearing the watch during his meeting with Richard Mille. The collection currently sells for around $300,000 USD and $400,000 USD.
