REVEALED! Alexander Zverev’s Path to Claim his First Australian Open Title
Alexander Zverev
Alexander Zverev is the 3rd seed and will be playing at Australian Open 2022 after having a good run at ATP Cup last week. Though the German team failed to reach the semi finals, Zverev was in great shape. The Olympics Gold medalist won first 2 games of the year convincingly against the likes of Taylor Fritz and Cameron Norrie.
The German lost the third match against promising Canadian, Felix Auger Alliassime in a thriller. The score line of the match was 6-4, 4-6, 6-3.
Zverev made it to the semi finals in the most recently concluded grand slam of US Open. The German had lost only one set until the semi finals but he was ultimately defeated by world number 1, Novak Djokovic in a 5 set thriller. The Serbian had won the match with the score line of 4-6, 6-2, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2.
Zverev has performed extremely well in the ATP events but unfortunately, he is not able to replicate the same success when he plays in a grand slam. Many people think that the world number 4 has a tendency to “choke” at pressure situations at the mega events. Though he has managed to dismiss the tag because of his tremendous form last year, he is still yet to win a grand slam.
It will be interesting to see how Zverev performs in Australian Open 2022.
Tough road Ahead For Zverev
Alexander Zverev is seeded 3rd in the Australian Open and has a tough road ahead of himself. He will play German, Daniel Altmaier in the first round. In the second round, the German is most likely to clash with either former world number 12, Feliciano Lopez or the Australian veteran, John Millman.
In the 3rd round, Zverev is most likely to set up a clash with the South African and current world number 32, Lloyd Harris. The German is likely to clash with either rising star, Denis Shapovalov or the tall American, Reilly Opelka in the fourth round of the Australian Open 2022.
If the Olympic gold medalist manages to cross the hurdles, then he is most likely to play either against the Olympic Bronze medalist, Pablo Careno Busta or current world number 10, Denis Shapovalov in the quarters. The potential semi final fixture for Zverev would be most likely against Wimbledon 2021 Runner up, Matteo Berrettini. Zverev could meet either 2022 US Open Champion, Daniil Medvedev or French Open 2021 finalist, Stefanos Tsitsipas in the finals of the Australian Open 2022
