Roger Federer has dazzled the tennis crowd for over 2 decades and the fans don’t want that magic to stop. The Swiss Maestro is one of the most loved players on the Tour and the fans are awaiting his comeback ever since he announced his season has ended due to another surgery.

Federer had injured his knee during his run at the 2021 Wimbledon Championships where he lost in the quarter-finals and then had to withdraw from the Olympics as well before announcing the need for surgery in order to hope that he can apart from playing tennis professionally, can lead a fit life going ahead even after he retires from the game.

With many pundits and people questioning why is he not retiring and dragging his body to training, the 40-year old finally answered the question in a recent interview and talked on what is his ambition to continue playing.

“As far as my sporting ambitions are concerned, I want to see once again what I can achieve as a tennis pro. I’m fighting for it and I’m very motivated. I feel the support of my team and my family. We all wish that I can say goodbye on my own terms and on a court,” said Federer.

This is the 3rd major surgery of Federer since 2016 when he had his first knee surgery and back injury that saw him end his season after his semi-final defeat at the 2016 Wimbledon and returned in 2017 directly which is one of his best seasons in terms of statistics and he also won the 2017 Australian Open immediately after making his comeback.

Federer’s 2nd surgery came in 2020 after the Australian Open that year when and he missed nearly 15 months of action and played his first match since the Slam in Melbourne in March 2021.

“I have experienced similar challenges many times in my career. Sometimes without the public being aware of it. And even though I know that the end is near, I want to try to play some big matches again. It won’t be easy, but I will try,” added Federer who assured everyone that he knows what challenge lies ahead of him.

Roger has already confirmed that he will be missing much of the 2022 season including the Australian Open and quite possibly the 2022 Wimbledon as well. This can confirm that it will be long before one can see his trademark shots on the court.
