Top seeded and debutant at the Geneva Open 2021, Roger Federer will be the favourite to win the title that happens in his own backyard. Federer comes from another mini-break post his 2021 debut at the Doha Open 2021.
This will be the 2021 Clay debut for Federer but also be his first competitive match on Clay post the 2019 season as he was recovering from his knee injury in 2020 post surgery. While Clay has not been the forte for the Swiss Maestro, he is looking forward for a good competition ahead of the much awaited 2021 French Open.
Roger Federer gets dealt a hard hand
Roger Federer being the top seed gets a bye in the first round directly qualifying him for the second round. In the second round he will meet the winner of Jordan Thompson and Pablo Andujar. In the third round, he is likely to face old foe Marin Cilic or 5th seed Cristian Garin who both look favourite to win their respective clashes.
He is most likely to play the 3rd seed Casper Ruud in the semi-finals who has been in red hot form on Clay this year, coming to Geneva on the back of 3 consecutive semi-finals at the Monte Carlo Masters, Munich Open and Madrid Masters.
If Federer manages to run past these fixtures, he will be facing either Denis Shapovalov or Grigor Dimitrov in the finals for the title with both Denis and Grigor coming in with great form and match practice.
