It would be a JOKE to let Novak Djokovic in the Australian Open: Renowned presenter Ross Stevenson
Novak Djokovic
Recently, Novak Djokovic’s doubtful participation in the upcoming Australian Open 2022 due to vaccination rules has been the talk of the town. There were many arguments on Djokovic’s case, some people had objections on this while others supported it.
Out of these objections, one came from a famous personality, Ross Stevenson, presenter of one of the most famous radio shows in the state of Victoria on Melbourne Station 3AW.
The Australian presenter had a strong opinion against Djokovic. “It would be a joke if they let him come in on some medical exemption when 92 percent of Victorians have got vaccinated, which is why you can have the Open at all,” he said as per 3aw.com.au.
According to him the sole reason for the Australian Open being held is that a major number of players and audience have taken vaccine and it can cause serious health problems to everyone if even the slightest negligence is shown in the organization of the event.
“This is a man who established his anti-vaccination status 12 months ago,” said Stevenson when Novak denied revealing his vaccination status and sought an exemption.
Reaction of Tennis Australia on Novak Djokovic’s Exemption Appeal
Tennis Australia has announced that Djokovic will be playing in the Australian Open 2022 but whether he is vaccinated against COVID-19 is still not clear.
But the organization has made it clear that no vaccination exemptions will be granted and loopholes against vaccines won’t be entertained. “Adjudicating on medical exemptions is the domain of independent medical experts. We are not in a position to influence this process, and nor would we,” is what the organization said on this matter.
