7th seed and world no 17, Elena Rybakina is all set to play the Ostrava Open with her first-round clash against the Russian world no. 31, Veronika Kudermetova. Rybakina had a tough Olympic 2021 schedule where she missed two chances for a medal for her country, losing in both the semi-finals and the Bronze medal matches. Post Olympics, she faired satisfactorily well in all the WTA events, like the Canadian Open and the Cincinnati Masters. She lost 6-7, 6-4, 3-6 to Simona Halep in the third round of the US Open 2021.

The 24-year-old, Kudermetova is both singles and doubles player. She was the finalist in the Women’s Doubles at the Wimbledon championship 2021 and since then has partnered with various other players in the subsequent WTA events.
