‘You really can do whatever you want,’ Sania Mirza on her comeback after becoming a mother

Indian tennis ace, Sania Mirza is back on the tennis court after taking a break due to her pregnancy. The former world no.1 came back at Wimbledon earlier this year and has since played the Tokyo Olympics and is currently in USA. She played the Cincinnati Open where he bowed but of the opening round but came back stronger this week in Cleveland.
Playing with Christina McHale, Mirza has stormed into the final of the Cleveland Championships after a win over Ulrikke Eikeri and Catherine Harrison in the semifinals. The Indi-American pair hasn’t dropped a set all tournament and won the semifinals in straight sets 7-6(5),6-2. After the win in the on-court interview, Mirza spoke about how she has defied all odds and how motherhood is the beginning of a new life.
She said: “Where I come from, In that part of the world, it’s almost like when you have a child, your life is kind of over but I’m trying to tell people that it’s not, it’s really the beginning of a new life. You really can do whatever you want!”
Sania Mirza receives a wildcard for the US Open
Sania Mirza will next be seen competing at the US Open starting next week. She has received a wildcard and will partner American Coco Vandeweghe. The two had also paired 4 years back in 2017 too.
Sania has an exceptional record at Flushing Meadows. She has won two titles- one women’s and one mixed doubles in 2015 and 2014 respectively. In women’s doubles, she has atleast reached the semifinals of the tournament since 2013 whenever she has played. She looks to have regained her form back and will want to go deep at the US Open.
