The war between Russia and Ukraine has wreaked havoc around the world, and Ukraine has already lost a large number of civilians. Organizations have been striving to assist Ukraine’s residents, with millions of youngsters at risk as the crisis escalates. Several residents have been killed, and many more, including tennis stars, have fled the country. Elina Svitolina is one of these athletes who has done everything she can to aid her homeland. She also donated her Monterrey earnings to the Ukrainian army.

Svitolina and her husband, ATP veteran Gael Monfils, engaged in the “Tennis with the Stars” event at the upmarket venue, with all proceeds going to help Ukrainian refugees. The famed Bryan brothers, Frances Tiafoe, Nick Monroe, and Jessica Pegula accompanied the two, all of whom sprang into activity in front of a raucous crowd.

“I’ve been helping kids in Ukraine for over two years now and seeing what is happening, the situation in Ukraine with the war, it’s really tough to see for me,” Svitolina told Tennis Channel. “Seeing all the innocent people struggling, it’s heartbreaking for me. “I’m really happy we could organize this event to raise money and to help people who are in need.”

The Bryan Brothers conducted “Racquets for Refugees” at the exclusive tennis event, in addition to keeping the crowd pleased with their array of doubles antics. Several autographed racquets, a Chicago Bulls cap signed by Michael Jordan, and several posters starring Rafael Nadal, Serena Williams, and others were winnable at the fundraiser auction.

Several tennis players and fans flocked to the gathering, which took place around ten miles from the Indian Wells Tennis Garden, to show their support for Svitolina and Ukraine. It was a spectacle that Svitolina was ecstatic to witness and be a part of. “I’m really thankful to all the people who stand for Ukraine and for people living in Ukraine going through hell,” Svitolina said. “Really thankful for all the soldiers and volunteers who took the weapons in their hands and doing their best to defend our nation and Ukrainian land.”

The Ukrainian not only raised funds and exposure for her country, but she also had a great time hitting with locals and other tour participants. Svitolina let out a few giggles and smiled while playing four on each side, and she clearly sensed the outpouring of love on Wednesday.

On Friday, she will begin her Indian Wells quest. She is seeded 12th in the tournament. Several high-profile players are scheduled to appear for the tournament.
