World No.3 Stefanos Tsitsipas has expressed his views on the Covid-19 vaccine and its side effects on a human body. The Greek tennis superstar wants to avoid the vaccine for as long as he can, until there comes a point, where the side effects go down significantly with time.

Tsitsipas further opined that it might be fine for the younger generation to get attacked by the virus, in order to boost their immunity.

“The covid-19 vaccine has not been tested enough because it is new and has some side effects. I know some people who’ve had them. I’m not against it, I just see no reason for someone in my age group to be vaccinated [yet],” explained the 22-year-old to sdna.

“For us young people I think it’s good to pass the virus because we’ll build immunity. I don’t see it as something bad. As I said, it isn’t obligatory, everyone has freedom to decide for themselves what’s right & what’s not.”

However, Tsitsipas also acknowledged the fact that the vaccine will have to be accepted by one and all as the medical institutions comes up with more options and solutions.

“At some point we should all do it, I’m not saying the opposite. The time will come when we will not be given many options, but until then I want to see a better version of the vaccine that gives us more pluses than minuses.”

The Greek is currently playing the ongoing Cincinnati Masters, and stated that the vaccine has not yet been made mandatory, owing to which he doesn’t see the urgency to receive the same.

“No one has made it a mandatory thing to be vaccinated. At some point I will have to, I’m pretty sure about it, but so far it hasn’t been mandatory to compete, so I haven’t done it, no,” Tsitsipas told reporters.

Tsitsipas beat Lorenzo Sonego and earned himself a spot in the quarterfinals of the Western and Southern Open.
