Stefanos Tsitsipas and Novak Djokovic
Stefanos Tsitsipas has been one of the most in-form player this season and his performances throughout the season on both the Hardcourts and Clay tournaments.
Stefanos recently came very close to his maiden Grand Slam title when he made it till the finals of the French Open 2021 but fell at the last hurdle. Playing against the top-seeded and the World No. 1 Novak Djokovic, Stefanos had taken a 2-set lead over the Serbian winning both the starting sets. But a strong comeback from the Serbian saw him clinching his 19th Grand Slam title.
Stefanos, who is just 22-year old is taking long strides towards establishing himself as one of the leading forces in the game as he continues challenging the Big-3. Speaking about Djokovic who denied him his maiden Grand Slam title, Stefanos said, “We’re there to stop him. He’s someone that just right now thinks he’s the best. That’s why he’s been playing this way.“

With his amazing run at the French Open 2021, Stefanos will be considered a great prospect for the Wimbledon 2021 title this year when he makes his Grass debut at the Grand Slam as he opted not to play in any of the grass tournaments that lead to the build up of the Wimbledon Championships.
For many seasons now, the debate has continued who will be the ones to replace the trio of Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer who have been dubbed as the Big-3. While Djokovic called the trio as the ‘Next-Gen’ after his finals with Nadal at the Rome Masters 2021, the pressure on the youngsters has increased to dethrone the Big-3.
As Nadal decided not to play at the Wimbledon 2021 keeping in mind his fitness and reportedly injuring his ankle during the French Open 2021, Stefanos is certain not to meet either of Djokovic and Federer who both will be the favourites for the title. While his potential semi-final could be with Djokovic, he can expect Federer to be his opponent in the finals if the Swiss makes it till there.
With such a bold statement about Djokovic who will be aiming for a hattrick of Wimbledon titles this year, Stefanos will certainly have extra attention on how he performs at the Championships.
