‘There is a Need to Take Advantage of the Federer, Nadal and Djokovic to Renew Tennis,’ says the ATP Chairman
Andrea Gaudenzi is a former Italian tennis player and current chairman of the Association of Tennis Professionals since January 2020. His highest ranking in his times was World No.18 and he earned 12 singles career titles.
Recently Andrea gave an interview for the TennisActu. In the interview, he shared his concern for the future of tennis. He thinks that every player must work actively to renew the men’s tennis world. To do this they must take full advantage of the big 3 till they are still out there capturing the tennis world.
Novak, Roger, and Rafa are indeed the gems of tennis who have set the bars rather high for the upcoming generation of tennis and their contribution to the tennis world is irreplaceable and will be remembered by the incoming tennis stars. The upcoming tennis stars should utilize the talents of the big 3 and make the best out of them to continue their legacy and help tennis reach a different level.
Andrea on Roger Federer
In the interview, the chairman specifically emphasized on Swiss legend, Roger Federer. He was worried that Roger won’t be able to play many matches now keeping in mind his age. Every match that the player will play will be a gift for the tennis family.
“Roger is over 40 years old. Every match he plays from now on will be a gift for us. We obviously can’t wait for him to be on tour again, but he is taking his time after the operations he has undergone. We keep our fingers crossed,” he said.
Roger did not play in any tournament from the start of the new 2022 season because of his injuries, he was not able to participate at the Aussie Open too because of the same reason. Not only Andrea but Roger’s fans are also worried about his well-being and want to see him back on court soon.
