The world currently revolves around the controversy between Russia, Ukraine, America, and NATO. The Russian forces under the command of Putin launched an attack on Ukraine after days of discussions and arguments within the EU and other countries around the world. These attacks have put the citizens of Ukraine in a lot of danger and pressure, pushing them to the point where they had to hide underground in the metro stations.

Elina Svitolina expresses her concern regarding her fellow citizens and family

Ukraine tennis star and World no. 15, Elina Svitolina, gave her opinion regarding the current situation in her home country. “I am shocked by this terrible nightmare,” she said during an interview with Skysports. “I really pray every minute for my family, for my friends, for all the people of Ukraine and all over the world for security, for peace.

Ukraine No 1 is trying to reach out to her family and friends despite their situation. “Given what people are going through in Ukraine and what my family is going through being in Ukraine and with my friends, I try to keep in touch with them to see what is going on there,” she added.

To calm the raging storm caused by this incident, Svitolina confessed to her fans, her situation in the Sky Sports News, “I’m very safe with them ( family ) so. To be honest with you, I only think about them and for me, it’s a very stressful time because I can’t do anything. I can’t really help them. I wish I could help them. It’s extremely difficult mentally for me. I can’t imagine what they are going through. I just pray.”

She further said, “It’s a horrible situation for Ukrainians, what they have to live without sleepless nights, without food or electricity, it’s horrible. For me, it’s heartbreaking to hear that.” The Ukrainian player also conveyed her opinion towards war and its effect on people getting involved in them. “War is something we have to stop and it is something better than anything else. What is happening is very difficult for me to imagine.”
