NFL star Tom Brady inspires me in many ways, says Naomi Osaka
Naomi Osaka and Tom Brady
World No.3 Naomi Osaka might be going through turbulent times in her tennis career. That said, she is still making headlines for other reasons too. The Japanese star who is looking for a change in momentum, ahead of the 2021 US Open, recently opened up on how she finds inspiration from leading quarterback Tom Brady.
“Tom [Brady] inspires me in so many ways as an athlete and an entrepreneur. He’s always rethinking the playbook and pushing boundaries while remaining so true to himself, which is something I try to do as well. He has led himself both on and off the field with grace and has been a great role model. I am excited to be a part of this and to continue to learn and grow in other areas of my life,” Osaka explained.
The four-time Grand Slam champion is already doing plenty for the society and has often been expressive on the glaring issues. Osaka is also a part of the advisory board of Tom Brady’s Autograph NFT Company. Already sporting greats Tiger Woods and Wayne Gretzky are a part of the Brady’s initiative.
Speaking on the aforementioned role, Osaka further opined, “It seemed like a very cool opportunity, and when Tom Brady asked me to join the Advisory Board and create my own NFTs, I knew I couldn’t say no. There are some real sports legends working with Autograph – Tiger Woods, Wayne Gretzky – it’s pretty awesome to be in their company.”
Osaka aims for third title in New York
Meanwhile, the 23-year-old will now turn her focus towards the final Grand Slam of the year in New York, which will begin on August 30. After winning the Australian Open earlier in the year, Osaka opted out of the French Open and Wimbledon.
Moreover, the two-time US Open winner Osaka has only played 26 matches for the year till now and it will be interesting to see how she bounces back from her early defeat in Cincinnati recently.
Osaka will try to win her third Slam in New York and fifth overall in her young career. She will take on Marie Bouzkova in the opening round.
