The much anticipated French Open 2021 is finally here as the draws and seedings for the tournament were announced in the Draw Ceremony that took place today.
So far this year, both of the WTA-1000 events on Clay have produced different champions. In the first Major of the season on Clay at the Madrid Open 2021, Aryna Sabalenka won the tournament defeating World No. 1 Ashleigh Barty in 3-sets. In the next major at the Italian Open 2021, Polish teenager Iga Swiatek emerged victorious in just 46 minutes dishing out bagels in both sets.
With a busy month leading to the showdown at the Grand Slam in Paris, let’s take a look at the Top-10 seeds of the tournament as they battle to take the title from the defending champion Iga Swiatek, which if happens will be the 14th year where no women could defend the crown at the Roland Garros.
World No. 1 Ashleigh Barty takes the top seed deservingly after having a fantastic season both on Hardcourt and Clay and will enter the tournament with a 27-5 record for the season. World No. 2 and 4-time Grand Slam winner Naomi Osaka will be the second seed looking to improve her record on Clay. World No. 4 Aryna Sabalenka will be the 3rd seed as she chases her maiden Grand Slam.
Defending Champion Iga Swiatek seeded 8th, Serena Williams seeded 7th at the French Open 2021
Runner-up at 2020 French Open, Sofia Kenin is seeded 4th and will be looking for her first Clay win of the season on the biggest stage. Ukrainian star Elina Svitolina gets the 5th seed followed by Canadian youngster Bianca Andreescu who gets the 6th seed and will be playing in just her 2nd Clay tournament of the season and is one the young contender to win the title.
Chasing her 24th Grand Slam, former champion Serena Williams enters the tournament as the 7th seed, followed by the defending champion Polish teenage sensation Iga Swiatek coming in as the 8th seed.

Semi-finalist at the 2017 French Open, World No. 10 Karolina Pliskova will come in as the 9th seed followed by the Swiss national Belinda Bencic who is seeded 10th and completes the list of the Top-10 seeds.
The tournament will begin in Paris from the 30th May, 2021 and the matches will be held over the 2 weeks with the Women’s Singles final set to be played on 12th June, 2021 that will determine who goes home with the “Coupe Suzanne Lenglen” Trophy.
