Novak Djokovic has finally confirmed that he will be flying down to Melbourne and will be playing the Australian Open. The world No.1 while wishing his fans a Happy New Year, told that he has been handed a medical exemption and will be participating in the Australian Open.
However, the fans thought of this act to be hypocritical, shameful and deemed it to be a scandal. They think the people in Melbourne who have been in an on and off lockdown for the past two years, don’t deserve an unvaccinated foreigner flying into their country.

The world No.1 had the entire world wondering about his participation at the Australian Open for the past couple of months. Ever since the announcement made by the officials at Melbourne that only vaccinated players will be allowed to play the tournament, it was a concern that Djokovic might not participate or will be getting a medical exemption.
Today Djokovic confirmed that he will be flying down to Melbourne to defend his title for the fourth consecutive time. He told his fans that he was handed medical exemption permission.
However, Twitter was in splits after hearing about the newest revelation in the case of Djokovic’s Australian Open participation. According to most of the fans, Djokovic getting a medical exemption was the worst possible thing, whereas some fans are happy with the Serb participating in the Australian Open.
According to most of the fans Djokovic shouldn’t be allowed to play at Melbourne Park with Omicron lurking to cause devastation. They believe the authorities handing him an exemption was a ‘SHAMEFUL’ move.
The Hypocritical nature of the move was also criticized as the authorities allowed Djokovic to play even after declaring that it was compulsory for the players to be vaccinated. The world No.1 is the only player who has been given a medical exemption to play at the Australian Open this year.
People of Melbourne have been in an on and off lockdown for the past two years. The fans deemed this medical exemption to be a ‘Scandal’, as allowing such events to proceed with no strict rules is cheating with the people of Melbourne who have gone through one of the harshest lockdowns in the world.
